Anonymous asked: How big would the chunk of skin have to be to be considered a pelt?
Anonymous asked: I'm writing a story so please don't think I'm killing someone or anything but if someone cut off a part of a person could it be considered a pelt?
Anonymous asked: Does a wolf pelt have to be the whole wolf?

My Life as a Taxidermist #7
Boyfriend: I can't wait till you're home!
Me: I can't either. I want to kiss you and cuddle with you and just BE there!
Boyfriend: We should go see a couple movies. And um, do other things. Oh, and go to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry!
Me: YES! They have that Body Worlds exhibit right now. I want to go see it. Because it's like taxidermy for people.
Boyfriend: ....
Me: Right. That was creepy.
I never miss being away from my family for...

The Man of My Dreams
I traipsed out of Eagle’s room with a mountain lion pelt strapped to my head, expecting to see the usual gang assembled in the living room talking about weed, girls, and explosions. Being “one of the guys” was a full-time job, and in the process, I had lost my ladylike tact. So when I looked up and saw that he was standing across the table from me, staring at me with what...
Anonymous asked: Do you think for fellow artists like yourself that work with animal remains, it is their responsibility to know the "who/how/what/whys" about the death of the animal that they are working on? Or do you think it's OK to use the old "Well, I didn't kill it so I'm innocent."? What are your thoughts on Trappers and Hunters and artists who get their animal remains...

My good friends Nate & Tessa (aka Destroy Nate Allen) are recording a full band album with GnarBoots. (Asian Man Records) onto 2” tape. 2 songs will go on a 7” with Blaster The Rocket Man.
They have a kickstarter set up to help fund the process, with some of the best pledge rewards I’ve ever seen.
Check it out and help spread the word! http://kck.st/rXnhni

The Stories I Never Told You: Part 1.
“I was high at Country Fair”, is a pretty common way for people in the Northwest to start an epic tale. Most will be full of laughter, co-incidences that leave you pondering the existence of a higher power, and sometimes, they’ll make you cry. This story is a bit of the first two, and possibly the latter depending on your views regarding dead stuff.
I was there for my second...

Anonymous asked: Do you consider yourself a Taxidermist? What, in your opinion, qualifies someone as a Taxidermist? Of course people are allowed to call themselves whatever they please. But as a person who works with dead animals, how can YOU personally tell if someone is actually interested in it as an art or are merely interested/doing it for the shock value and attention? Do you think someone should have a...

You guys are fucking awesome.
Anonymous asked: I really admire your work. It's something you're really passionate about, and what you do with it is really amazing. I personally am kind of perturbed by dead animals, or death in general, but what you do with it is really incredible. I'm sorry that people misjudge you, they really have no right to. :< You're really amazing and cool, and I can't wait to see more of your...
Anonymous asked: Do you affiliate yourself with any established religion (whether it be major or obscure), or do you just hold your own personal set of religious/spiritual beliefs?
metalographerphotography asked: thewickedrhyme is just being a cunt. She's mad cause she will never own one, nor would anyone ever want to wear her as a hat. Your response was very well articulated, and it had the benefit of you not simply ranting back at the ignorant people who were being rude, you truly just explained your side. No small-minded person would have been so well collected. [and happy holidays btw!]

Change of Plans...
Right. So, my flight for the Cayman Islands on the 23rd was cancelled. But another flight was leaving on the 21st. The problem was that I was only give an hour’s notice, and was naked in bed with my boyfriend when the notice arrived, so it was one hell of a scramble to get everything packed, call a cab, and help Brown Bear figure out an arrangement for taking care of Paco-kitty.
I felt like...

Giving Christians a Bad Name...
I overheard a guy at the airport, talking on his phone about how Christians have turned away from Jesus at Christmas time in exchange for family, friends, and consumerism, which apparently makes them evil “Pagans”.
A moment later, I realized that he was wearing an Armani suit-jacket, exceptionally fancy leather shoes, and a Prada suitcase. I muttered out loud, “It’s...

Anonymous asked: I'm a more recent follower, so forgive me if these things have been asked before. Did you go to school to learn taxidermy? For others wishing to learn, would you recommend a school, one of the many 4 week courses I see advertised around, or something else entirely?
